We spent a perfect week’s summer holiday at De l’Art et des Vivres, in the Criste Marine room. The guesthouse is ideally situated, just a stone’s throw from the village centre and the beach. The room is spotless, the bed is very comfortable and the selection of toiletries is of the highest quality. But more than just a guesthouse, it’s a genuine gastronomic experience – and a completely unexpected one at that! Véronique and Lionel are extremely welcoming hosts, passionate about what they do and true culinary professionals. The breakfasts are exquisite (I’d even call them proper brunches!), made with 100 per cent local and homemade produce. As for the table d’hôte dinners, they’re on a par with a bistronomic restaurant. A special mention for the homemade salted butter caramel: it’s impossible to leave without a jar in your suitcase! 😉 Without a doubt, our best stay at a B&B in France. We’ll be telling all of our friends to come here. Véronique and Lionel are truly lovely people. They’ve created a wonderful sanctuary by beautifully renovating an old villa into somewhere you want to linger. They are friendly, kind, helpful, generous and as two ex-chefs, make the most incredible food. We are well travelled and the breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts we’ve ever had.
